Half-Life Alyx is the first installment in the Half-Life series since the last release being Half-Life 2: Episode 2 way back on 10 October 2007. It is really exciting that the story will carry on and fill some gaps that take place between Half-life 1and 2.
Valve have finally released some game play footage showcasing what to expect in the game. The game does introduce some interesting movement mechanics and how you interact with the environment. The Dialogue sections are interesting compared to the older titles. There is a scene where Alyx fights with Combine Soldiers and she pulls open a car door to create cover which was really unexpected. The movement of when the grenades get caught and thrown back is really realistic.
I really like the fact that the older traditional sound effects of the Combine soldiers, Zombies, weapons have come back into the game. Half-Life was one of those games that contained unique sound effects and items. I feel they have kept to this tradition, but they have also expanded on many new game play aspects as well.
Half-life fans do not have to wait much longer as Half-Life: Alyx will be releasing on March 23, 2020 on Steam.
